Pearl cotton, especially the hand-dyed variety, is the perfect item for your textile art, fiber art, art quilts, hand embroidery, needlepoint, punch needle, wool applique, and crafts.
For your information, pearl cotton is heavier than normal sewing thread. The lower the weight, the larger the twist of thread. That is why it is recommended for accent stitching and not construction stitching.
Currently, we use DMC pearl cotton, which is constructed of 100% long-staple Egyptian cotton. And we dye with the top of the line Procion MX Dyes.
You will love the hand of these skeins and the variegations cannot be replicated and the variegations do not repeat. That is what makes our skeins one-of-a-kind and delightfully different than any other hand-dyed pearl cotton skein you will find.
Personally, my favorite way to use Hand-Dyed Pearl Cotton is needlepoint. I love needlepoint! Many of my art quilting friends use it in their art quilts and hand embroidery. These weights are perfect for hand stitching the binding or edging effect on an art quilt. There are so many creative ways to be creative with it.
Our threads are washed with hot water, cold rinse until we don’t see any dye bleeding. If you are going to use your purchase on an item that is going to be washed, we suggest that you test your thread with laundry detergent and cold water to ensure it will not bleed on your project.
